It represents her passion for making food that brought her family together, day after day, generation after generation. Grandma’s rolling pin, to me, is a symbol. One day I told grandma, “If there is one thing I’d love to have after you go to heaven, it’s your rolling pin”. Because she always patiently taught me, I am now able to make and share those recipes I grew up loving. Grandma has aged, and due to physical restrains she isn’t able to be in the kitchen much anymore. Her passion for making food that brings people together has been a trait I couldn’t help but inherit. She always made the most delicious pies: rhubarb, raspberry, peach, cherry, you name it. She almost always had a pot roast in the oven, homemade rolls rising, and made-from-scratch pie cooling on the rack. Every single time I walked through the door of her home, there was an inviting smell of something delicious cooking. I was lucky to spend a lot of time near her in her small kitchen. Growing up I was blessed with the opportunity to live close to my grandmother.
